What is your experience in the fitness industry?
I have been working for Entire Training as a tutor and assessor for the past 2 years, before that I worked in the health and fitness industry in a number of roles and across a number of gym chains in the UK. I applied my own skills and gained further knowledge of both practical and theoretical applications in the field of fitness.
Why did you want to work in the fitness industry?
Since I left school I’ve always had a desire to develop myself in the gym and work towards my goals, being so interested in different training techniques and eventually nutrition, I found myself compelled to develop a career within the fitness industry.
What is it about Entire Training that makes them different?
Definitely their teaching quality and support, I’ve spoken with the support they’re knowledgeable and dedicated to the fitness industry. The tutoring on the weekend also has a planned and detailed structure to ensure all learners have an exceptional teaching experience so you’re prepared to enter the fitness industry as a Gym Instructor or Personal Trainer.
How did you become a health and fitness tutor?
The gym I was working for at the time ran their own courses which I shadowed learning more about teaching styles, assessment methods and getting information across to students effectively. After a short period of assisting tutors I thought it would the natural progression to move forward and become a qualified tutor and assessor.
What do you most enjoy about being a tutor for Entire Training?
Working with new students on a weekly basis, it’s so refreshing to meet new people from different backgrounds and learn all about people differing training styles and how they’ve gotten to where they are.
What one piece of advice do you give to the students on the courses?
Always press on for more. Never stop trying to progress within the fitness industry, as far as knowledge goes the fitness industry has no ceiling meaning you can always purchase CPD courses to advance your repertoire or even spend time yourself by watching videos or reading articles to stay up to date with the most recent information and trends.
What would you say to someone interested in becoming a tutor?
Work towards your teaching and assessing qualifications as soon as possible, alongside this try and get some work experience in the field by contacting some gyms which run their own courses and see if you can shadow them to see how the teaching and assessing is really done, who knows you could even work your way into a job in the end.
